Case Study
Cloud voice solution for hotel
At Orfeostory, we tackle the problems that others are reluctant to face. Recently, we dealt with a project that tested our expertise to its limits, upgrading an analog cloud voice system in a decades-old building with outdated infrastructure. Here’s how we made it happen.
The Challenge: Navigating an Old, Complex Building
Our task? To modernize the cloud voice system in a building where even seasoned Singtel engineers struggled to locate cables. The building, over 40 years old, had no proper documentation on how the cables were routed to the server room. The cabling itself was a significant hurdle—most of it was over 20 years old, and not all the ports were functional. The network routing was equally complex, involving the routing of three buildings via fiber to a central building. With such an outdated and confusing infrastructure, identifying risers and cable paths was like finding a needle in a haystack.
Our Approach: Expertise Meets Determination
Despite these hurdles, our team took on the challenge with precision and a methodical approach. We started by manually tracing the cables back to their sources. This involved painstakingly tracking each cable from the individual rooms, through the risers, and all the way to the MDF (Main Distribution Frame) room. Every step required careful documentation and close collaboration with on-site engineers to ensure that we accurately mapped out the building’s complex wiring. Advanced diagnostic tools played a critical role in identifying the functional and non-functional ports, allowing us to reconfigure the network to support a modern cloud voice system.
The Results: A Seamless Transformation
In just a week, we successfully transitioned the company’s outdated system to a modern cloud voice solution, improving communication efficiency and cutting telecommunication costs. Most importantly safeguarding against potential disruptions from manufacturers phasing out support. The success of this project stands as a testament to our capability to handle even the most challenging environments, delivering reliable and efficient solutions regardless of the complexities involved.
